Introduction

Do you enjoy learning about nature, the human body, and all other organisms? Then a major within Biology and Biomedical Science is definitely something for you. The majors within this industry focus on studying life and living organisms, including their physical structure, chemical processes, molecular interactions, physiological mechanisms, development and evolution.

Majors

Are you interested in using technology in the field of biology? Then the major Bio-Engineering could be perfect for you. This major focuses on the use of technological methods to solve biomedical questions. The major combines research methods from several fields, including physics, chemistry, maths, (electrical) engineering, informatics, and biology.

Interview with a Bio-Engineering student

CHOEURN Kosin (21) is a year three student of Bio-Engineering at the Royal University of Phnom Penh. He chose this major because his favourite subjects in high school were biology and chemistry and this major is related to these subjects. There are a lot of fields that involve this major, such as the food technology field, the medical field, the cosmetic field, and so on. Things Kosin likes about this major are laboratory practice and research practicum and he loves the teamwork involved. He needs 6 days a week for the assignments he is given and to do research. He cannot have a part-time job while studying this major because he needs to study from morning till evening. In the future Kosin hopes to work in the food industry and to open a business that relates to his major.

His advice if you are interested in this major: You need the high school subjects of Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Physics. You also need to be committed and be sure you can solve problems.
