Introduction

If you want to contribute to other people’s health by teaching them how to live more healthy lives, then a major in the Health Sciences industry is the right fit for you. You will learn about health promoting behaviour such as nutrition, regular exercise and lifestyle programmes. This way, you prevent people from becoming ill, rather than treating them when they are already ill.

Interview with a Food Science and Nutrition student

Lavil (21) is a year five student at the Faculty of Food Science and Technology of ITC. Lavil chose this major because he wants to make sure that Khmer farmers get a good price for their products. Food Microbiology and Food Chemistry are subjects Lavil likes, but he likes Nutrition and Health best because he loves to know about the mechanism of food in the human body. He still needs to study the standard for food safety. In the future he would like to work in quality control or quality assurance.

His advice for students who are interested in this major: Especially pay attention to Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology. ITC has an entrance exam and expects students to be outstanding in these subjects and in logic.
